Tham's Chicken Rice

The weather was hot...

I went to Tham's Cafe at Centrepoint for their famous chicken rice with my dad during lunchtime. We were in the area because my dad had to go there to withdraw greens ( cash ) for me just because my mum OWED me RM50.00 this morning.

...as the weather was hot i repeat, I asked for 2 pins of Guiness Stout "Chinese Liang Teh" instead of my usual "KOPI-o-Peng Kao Kao" . Thank God that "Liang Tehs" are available at such peak hours. I tried a sip of it and instanly, the cooling effects gets to you. I ain't boasting . It's true.

Anyway, the chicken rice was good and tasted like it should. hmm.. I don't really fancy roasted chickens since young but then, Tham's Cafe's roasted chicken taste so good that even someone who ain't easily impressed like me , actually ordered for another round of it.

Here's a close up of the Roasted Chicken:

Tham's Cafe had invested a "hell" lot of time and sweat( ewww... ) for the past 30 years in providing delicious and appetizing roasted chicken and spring rolls for the locals. The chickens are marinated with their so called secret-ingredients. Basically, the golden brown roasted up chicken skin taste that much better than your KFC broasted drumsticks. Along with it's carefully mixed + salty chicken essence, Tham's Chicken gives out that unique aroma that beats the rest.

Honestly speaking, roasted chicken meat are not as tender as Steamed chicken meat. But at Tham's , its a whole different thing. The chicken are dipped inside a pot of simmering hot cooking oil for around 20 minutes; one whole chicken at a time to ensure every part of it is OFFICIALLY cooked. ;P

This is another dish i ordered alongside with the roasted chicken. Not measuring more than the usual asian 6", this is one of my favourite. It's called the Spring Roll. I believed that Spring Rolls are every young kids favourite too. Heck, i was a kid too and i know that this 6" stuff taste that darn nice. RM2.50 each.

A real life pic of a cut up 6" d*ckhead spring roll.

Tham's Spring Rolls
surprises you first with it's sweet taste the moment you had it on your lips. The salty essence starts to build up from within the more you consume it. Consisting of stirred fried minced pork, golden yellowish onions which are chopped into bits and bieces, neatly sliced up mushrooms from CHINA, and also, tiny pieces of prawn meat which are all wrapped and roasted all together; it really does impart a nice taste.

The best way to enjoy it is to alternate between Spring Roll + Roasted Meat + Spring Roll for example. Repeat it til your plate goes empty or you yourselves go full.

I know i did and you should too! At only RM9.00 for 2 person, what more can you ask for?

Does anyone know of a better ROASTED CHICKEN RICE stall in small ol' Miri?
