Happy Garden

A thousand apologies for my lack of updates and drive to write. This was down to "certain" factors and reasons which i deem inappropriate to review at the moment. Okay, right ever since the Mandy K incidence, i tried to not make her feel bad for what happened so i kinda tweak my breakfast destination a little. Here goes HAPPY GARDEN .

Happy Garden is located a stone throws from my office. It is basically a cafe where theres no little chicks would go. Seriously. I can't even recall once a cute little girl dining there. By the way, that's not the point. I was introduced to this cafe few months back by my colleagues and it's whereabouts? Krokop 10.

Happy Garden boasts a repertoire of delicacies. Hence, the reason why i continue to patronize that very place apart from trying to be happy. The best thing about Happy Garden would definitely be it's fried kueh tiaw and it could probably go down as the only stall which has i's fried kueh tiaw FRIED while in a sitting position.

I normally opt for the al fresco feel because of the humid surroundings inside the cafe. Al fresco.. this cracks me up whenever i mention it.

Lame jokes apart, this is the flagship fried kueh tiaw by sir-sit&cook . I prefer it to be fried with hot chilli as it certainly opens up my appetite in the morning. That old chap fries really good kueh tiaw and theres generous amount of ingredients dumped into it as well.

Just look at how delicious and so vibrant the kueh tiaw looks. It made me felt dizzy too after consuming it just because of it's richness. LOL. Kueh Tiaw lovers should give this place a try!! It's on my recommendation!

Nasi Lalapan @ Surabaya Restoran

Surabaya Restoran has become one of the most sort after places for me since i started to indulged myself in Indonesian dishes. I swear i have never ever crave anything that much after i had their much famous Nasi Lalapan. By the way, it's situated in Miri Town centre near the old KFC building.

Nasi Lalapan you asked? Well, it's actually a dish where spinach , cucumber slices and fish or chicken meat are served alongside the very tantalizing paste pictured above. The whole dish actually revolves around the paste which contains tomatoes , belacan and other miscellaneous ingredients which i am currently unaware of, but it certainly keeps me coming back for more.

Normally, i would prefer to have a piece of tofu, beef meat and a piece of fish of my own choice to go along with the sambal paste. The paste taste very different compared to others served around in Miri in my opinion. The strong spicy and sweet taste leaves a very unforgettable experience once consumed.

This is how it is done. Dip the vegetables in and apply the paste generously over the veges.

Word has it that it even has tongkat ali essence in it which is yet to be proven but i bet most of the patrons would come back for more once they had tried it. I am really addicted to it. It aint a good thing because 1 nasi lalapan meal would cost your wallet around RM10.00 there. Nevertheless, i totally enjoy it and i would have it anytime, anywhere.

Miri's Laksa @ Sin Foh Cafe

I bet that most of our local folks here would know this place. It is home to one of the famous laksa in town. I did wrote an article about this cafe few years back but unfortunately, i did not mentioned about their famous laksa. I went there this morning to have a bowl just to satisfy my sudden craving for it.

I didn't really get to take really nice pictures of food as of late and the latest post on some curry rice obviously did not go well with certain people. So, just to humour them, i took the time out and woke up few hours earlier to take some really nice pictures. Pardon my lengthy explanations, as mentioned earlier, this is the bowl of laksa which i ordered.

It comes with some sambal paste which one has to mix with the laksa just to enhance the taste. The secret of having a good laksa meal normally revolves around this sambal paste. If it taste like crap, then of cause, it would have tasted so. But as a seasoned laksa proprietor, the aunties certainly got it right with their signature dish.

A normal bowl of laksa would consist of rice vermicelli, omelette strips, chicken strips and also those succulent fresh prawns and for those who aren't sure what it taste like, its supposed to be spicy. I totally enjoyed my meal this morning even without my usual female companions.

Eggs on toast @ Ipoh Town

This should be a short post. I went to Ipoh Town which situated around Centre Point 2 the other day with few of my clients. Unfortunately i forgot to take a picture of the exterior but i promised i will make an effort to do so the next time i am around. Ipoh Town belongs to one of my classmate or so i've heard from my friends. It provides clientèle with all sorts of beverages including the heavily promoted white coffee.

I got myself a rather simple meal. It's just basically eggs on toast. I have a weird feeling whenever i view this picture everytime. It makes me so turned on. I am sick, i must admit.

Prawn Mee @ Sing Chiong Restaurant, Berkenu

This is SING CHIONG Restaurant. Perhaps i do not need to introduce much on this eating establishment which is located at the outskirts of Miri as it's already flocked with people during every weekends. I went to Berkenu few days back just to pay my friend, who happens to be the owner of this restaurant a visit. I promised to come down once every week once in a blue moon to have his Fresh Water prawn mee.

So as expected, i filled myself up with one of their flagship dish. The Prawn Mee. What were you thinking? Something fancy?

Theres quite an amount of prawns dumped into my bowl and that certainly made my day.

This succulent prawns taste so juicy and the meat is so fresh and tender that it really kinda reminds me of someone, sorry, i meant something. It's not spicy but diners who prefer hot and spicy stuffs could request for a rather spicy-filled broth from the chef.

Word has it that, Berkenu's prawns taste way better than Batu Niahs. Maybe someday you guys should just go up and try. Remember, inform them that you saw it from my site. Who knows they might just offer me free lunch the next time i visit them.

Ah Xiang's Stall @ New Yakin

Everybody knows this place. It's located at New Yakin Food Centre and it's where most hasher peeps come here to have Ah Xiang's delicious fried kueh tiaws. I went there few days ago with few of my friends. I don't have too much friends as of late due to my commitment with work. LOL.

So i got myself a plate of their wonderful presented dish. Ah Xiang's fried noodles tasted great with tomato essence in it. Sometimes i opt for their fried mee hoon which tasted equally good too. No, i don't have any shares there so don't worry about me promoting wrong stuff.

The best is to have it with their personally hand-made belacan paste. To be frank, their belacan has gone down drastically in terms of taste and quality possibly due to the effects of the dancing class opposite his stall. Those techno beats certainly messes up people's mind.

Just another of those close up for you guys who are studying overseas. Don't you miss em?

No.6 Stall at Open Air Market - The Ah Loke Stall

I'm doing this without any advertising fees involved. Few days back, i went to this particular stall for supper. I'm pretty sure that many Mirians would know this place as it has been around for as long as i can remember. Stall NO.6 is where noodle lovers should really go to during the night.

It's manned by 5 - 6 people comprising of uncles and aunties . Their noodles are always sold out before 9.30PM and that's a testament to how popular their dish are. It has been a while since i last tried their noodles out and when i finally did, it still tasted the way it was few years back. They had maintained the taste of it's dish but i couldn't agree about the portion of the noodles though. Heh. I can't say anything much because their relative tend to play footy with me every weekend.

People from all walks of life gather around the open air market to chill after a day of hard work. I've seen many famous faces around but this time, it's only me. ehem. And by the way, the most common face you would be spotting are few rats crawling around the area.

So, i ordered a bowl of their extremely famous noodles.

Few Char Siew to complement the noodles. It didnt took long for me to order another plate of steamed chicken.

While consuming this plate of steamed chicken, it reminded me of a time when there's a guy who came up and ordered some noodles and here goes the actual dialogue:

Man: Tauke, give me three packets of noodle and give me the drumsticks.
Tauke: Ok, then who will eat the chicken breasts?
Man: Er...... ok, erm... i think i eat the chicken breasts then.

LOL. The guy should had either said others will eat or something rather than giving in. Remember, customers is always right. I totally enjoyed looking at that dumb look on the guys face and the giggles from the other patrons.

So, not content with the noodles and the steamed chicken, i ordered another bowl of their chicken porridge. It's hearty and usually people have it after exercise at night. Think straight ok? I ain't talking about those hard to do maneuvers on bed.

and if you all haven't try their porridge yet, what are you still waiting for? The right time to go would be around 7.30PM. See you there and if you see me there, do help me settle my bills. Thanks.

Mitsu Shabu Shabu Restaurant

Greetings earthlings, i am back. I know i know you miss my posts and i even dreamt about you peeps constantly checking out my post daily and went back disappointed by my lack of updates. Here's one for this month.

I was invited by my pal Michelle Ting few........ weeks back to try out this newly establish restaurant dubbed the Mitsu Shabu Shabu restaurant as it was located just right beneath the place where she do all the sweaty, hot and energetic dancing stuffs and with all those girls upstairs dancing to some techno stuffs every 6PM. I don't really love japanese food to be honest with you but it has nothing to do with this because it serves taiwanese food. Do not get confused by the name though.

The picture says it all. Girls who spend time with Adam regardless of dining out, cruising around town, playing puzzles or even hide and seek are ALWAYS ENJOYABLE and ALWAYS a day to remember. By the way, the interior of Mitsu Shabu Shabu looks exactly like how a ...er ... new restaurant should look like.

The menu features a kinda big size guy giving us the thumbs up. What's that suppose to mean? Nowadays i don't see kids doing this to me, normally they give me the middle royale salute. Talking about following new trends. huh.

Mitsu Shabu Shabu does offer patrons to dine in steamboat style but i didnt want to spend money on dipping raw food all day long so i got the.. [ i forgot ] spaghetti-lookalike dish. It tasted exactly like what the waitress told me " SPECIAL " . To be honest it tasted weird. I guess the chef back there was relieving himself few minutes earlier.

A close up on the rather weird tasting dish. I encourage everyone to try it out. Not that it tasted good but everyone gotta try things which taste weird. This takes me to a time where i was contemplating to eat the dog food which my dogs left behind. Cough.. curiosity curiosity.

Michelle got herself a large bowl of some tom yam-like noodle dish. She forced me to try it. I didn't. It wouldn't had look good because the other girls dancing above might walk passed and should they caught me in such a manner, they would be really disappointed. I'm sorry Michelle. LOL

I actually did ordered a plate of beef noodle earlier and it was really good. I highly recommend their beef noodle as it's appetizing and fulfilling too. Before i forget, it's located just beside New Yakin Food Centre.

Roasted Chicken @ WZT

I went through my picture album and guess what i found out? Few pictures of WZT Cafe which i have yet to introduce. Well, i guess that WZT cafe needs no introduction as most of us local folks have already got to know it's whereabouts and even who owns the cafe.

Just in case the foreigners or other visitors from abroad do not know it's location, it's situated right opposite TOWN Motors in the heart of Miri City.

WZT Cafe opts for red colour as it's theme. Everything you see as you arrived at it's premises are red. Luckily i have nothing against red colour as it also represents the colour of the football team i support. Man U! Liverpool you said? Who? . Anyways, even the signboard is also red in colour.

This is the interior of the cafe. It is normally packed with people in the morning. I hardly patronised WZT at such a time as it's quite hard to look for a decent parking space.

I'll normally dine at the back of WZT Cafe because it is way spacious than the seating arrangements at the front. There's always a time when you really need that extra privacy when you're dining out with someone ( especially a girl when you already have a gf ), so the back of WZT cafe would be appropriate.

Fyi, WZT Cafe is owned by one of my friend. What's her name again? Tyger Wee.

I got myself one of their famous roasted chicken rice.

It's delightful and appetizing. Friends who are currently studying overseas, just in case you are viewing this, you know you are missing out a lot on this. I need not say more.
